Sarah Weddington, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in independent practice with more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, crisis intervention, and behavioral health systems management. She works with older adolescents (ages 17+) and adults navigating complex life transitions – from the shift into college and early independence through career development and retirement – as well as anger and irritability concerns and veteran reintegration. Sarah does most of her clinical work in a convenient office complex six miles west of the Northshore Group location.

Sarah earned her Master of Science in Social Work from University of Tennessee and has been licensed as an LCSW in the State of Tennessee since 2007. She provides individual therapy grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and structured Anger and Irritability Management (AIMS) frameworks. Her work focuses on helping clients build emotional regulation, increase psychological flexibility, strengthen motivation for change, and move through academic transitions, career shifts, retirement, relationship challenges, and other pivotal life stages with clarity and confidence. Sarah is committed to direct, practical, and results-oriented therapy that empowers clients to regain control, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful forward movement in their lives.

In addition to her clinical background, Sarah brings extensive experience in utilization review and medical necessity determination from leadership roles with organizations such as Optum, UnitedHealthcare, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, and Acadia Healthcare. This systems-level expertise allows her to effectively bridge clinical care with healthcare operations, ensuring thoughtful, goal-oriented treatment planning.

Outside of her professional work, Sarah enjoys traveling with her husband and friends, strength training, swimming, and spending time with her four cats.
